Celebrating Parks, Nature, and Outdoor Joy This Summer

Play isn’t just a pastime; it’s powerful. It builds friendships, sparks imagination, and nurtures the mental and physical health of people of all ages.
That’s why we’re thrilled to celebrate National Play Outside Day, which takes place every first Saturday of the month – a simple reminder to step outside, breathe deep, and reconnect with joy.
This July also marks the 40th anniversary of Parks & Recreation Month, honoring the incredible professionals who create these spaces that bring us together. Whether it’s neighborhood parks, rec centers, or even community gardens, these spaces are essential to public health and strong communities.
At Family Connections Centers, play and nature are embedded in everything we do: from climbing structures to nature walks, or cooking with leaves to art projects that are inspired by the world around us.
We embrace outdoor play as a crucial support in children’s curiosity, creativity, and sensory development, while giving them a joyful outlet to express themselves freely.
And with the school year just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to soak up the sunshine and make the most of these summer days. Find a local park, kick off your shoes, and get outside – you never know what memories you’ll create!
