We kicked off autumn with a favorite tradition from our past, a field trip to Lemos Farm in Half Moon Bay. It had been several years since our last visit to the Farm, and families in our early childhood programs loved petting the goats, exploring corn mazes, and picking pumpkins.
To honor Día de los Muertos, our Support Group hand-made sugar skulls, which were decorated at Excelsior’s Family Night. Caregivers and staff made papel picado and built beautiful community altars at both centers. We invite everyone to add their own objects or photos, and honor loved ones with this tradition.
We closed out October with the return of our Halloween Bash. Spooky sensory explorations, a very haunted house, pumpkin decorating, and candy corn games filled our Portola center, along with costumed ghouls.
